Evolution and special forms

Evolution methods include levels, stones, trade-style links, held or consumed items, regional items and species-specific conditions.

Looking for one Pokémon? Search the Pokédex and open its card. If the supplied addon names an evolution route, the card now shows the earlier Pokémon, level or item, and a link to the matching item guide. Pokémon without a listed natural spawn may still have a documented evolution route.

Evolution tools​

  • Stones: Fire, Water, Thunder, Leaf, Moon, Sun, Dawn, Dusk, Shiny and Ice.
  • Trade-style tools: Linking Cord, Link Cable, Upgrade, Dubious Disc and held evolution items.
  • Special items: armor pieces, apples, sweets, scales, pots, teacups, Razor Claw/Fang, Reaper Cloth and species items.
  • Mega Evolution: Key Stone or Mega Ring plus the correct species Mega Stone.
  • Special forms: DNA Splicers, N-Solarizer, N-Lunarizer, Reins, scrolls and other supported transformation items.

Do not consume a rare evolution item until you have confirmed the correct species and condition.

Some special forms appear in the addon roster without a verifiable transformation condition. Their Pokédex entries say so instead of guessing how to get them.
